Embodiment Construction

[0022] Referring to the drawings, a garment button 1 includes a head portion 2 , a pin shaft portion 3 and a fastener portion 4 . The head portion includes a rest surface 12 for resting on a garment surface, and opposite the rest surface an upper or display surface 10 which may be decorative or provided with trim. The pin part 3 implements the connection between the head part 2 and the fastener part 4, and is intended to pass through an eyelet or slit in one or more layers of the garment, while the fastener part is intended to be connected to said The other side of the layer or layers is joined to retain the garment between the fastener portion and the bearing surface of the head portion.

[0023] The garment button comprises a housing 5 , an actuator 6 and a lock-unlock mechanism 7 .

[0024] In the embodiment shown, the housing 5 comprises at least two separate parts, an upper housing 24 and a lower housing 26, which allow the components of the actuator and locking-unlockin...

Abstract

The invention relates to a cufflink including a head portion (2) with a bearing surface (12) for bearing against a garment, a pin portion (3) to be inserted through a hole or a slot of the garment, and a clasp portion (4) with at least one pivotable tab (14) for locking the cufflink onto the garment. The cufflink includes an actuator (6) with a shaft (38) slidably mounted in a housing (5) and including a push button (52) at one end and an actuation arm (44) at the other end which is inserted into an actuation portion (21) of the tab (14) so as to pivot the tab from an unlocked position into a locked position when the push button (52) is pressed. The cufflink further includes a locking-unlocking mechanism (7) with push buttons arranged on either side of the shaft (38) of the actuator (6), wherein the push buttons can be accessed from the opposite sides of the side wall (30). The unlocking is automatic and results from the natural grasp of the cufflink by the user. Advantageously, the cufflink of the invention can be very easily inserted and removed, in particular using one hand.

Description

technical field [0001] This invention relates to garment buttons, such as cufflinks, with operable fasteners. Background technique [0002] Cufflinks are fashion accessories that allow the closure of a shirt sleeve when the sleeve has a slit only at the wrist. Most known cufflinks comprise a decorative head portion, a pin portion, and at the other end a fastener portion in the form of a pivoting arm that pivots from a position aligned with the pin to enable insertion of the pin through the slit Orthogonal to this position to secure the pin to the sleeve. A bi-stable positioning and spring system allows to keep the arms of the fastener system in a "locked" position and an "unlocked" position. Manual rotation of the fastener arm is difficult to achieve and the user has only one hand for locking and unlocking. Additionally, it may happen that the cufflinks come undone if the fastener is accidentally caught on an object, or that the end of the arm is in a slit in the garment,...
