Abstract

A calibration device (8) is connected to a blood-pressure gauge (1) by means of an air tube (10) and a communication cable (11). When a connection is detected, the calibration device (8) causes a valve (22) of the blood-pressure gauge (1) and a valve (812) of said calibration device (8) to close, applies pressure inside the air tube (10) and measures the pressure inside the air tube (10). Air leakage from the blood-pressure gauge (1) is determined by an air leakage determination unit (802) on the basis of changes in pressure. The calibration device (8) causes the internal pressure at a pressure sensor (23) of the blood pressure gauge (1) to be measured and receives the measurement result by means of a communication interface (815), and the result of an instrumental error test of the blood-pressure gauge (1) is determined by an instrumental error determination unit (804) on the basis of the difference between the applied pressure and the internal pressure. If the instrumental error test is determined to have failed, a control signal is output to the blood-pressure gauge (1) by a calibration unit (805), and the output value of the pressure sensor (23) is calibrated.
