The invention relates to a method for planting poplar trees in coastal saline-alkali soil, which comprises the following steps of: filling earth; digging and processing plant pits; improving earth for refilling the plant pits; selecting quality of tree stock; planting; building a cofferdam; and watering and nursing, wherein in the step of filling the earth, the whole or local terrain is lifted, and the highest underground water level is controlled to be below 1.5m; in the step of digging and processing the plant pits, the plant pits in large specification are dug, and a salt isolating and water pouring layer with the thickness of 0.1 to 0.3m is laid at the bottom of each plant pit; and in the step of improving the earth for refilling the plant pits, the salt content of the earth for refilling the plant pits is less than 0.5 percent, the pH is between 6.5 and 8.5, and the soil is powdery or granular and is mixed with a soil structure improver and an organic fertilizer. The method has the advantages of high operability and low implementation cost, and can effectively prevent the earth in the plant pits from returning salt, being alkalified and accumulating salt.
