The compound provided by the invention has the general formula (I), wherein R is cholesteryl, and n is 2-5,7. The compound is obtained by carrying out self-coupling reaction on 4,5-bis(cholestenoxycarbonyl-alkylthio)-1,3-dithiole-2-ketone in a triethyl sulfite medium. The compound disclosed by the invention has the characteristics of single phase change, high thermal stability, simpleness in preparation, and the like and has a smectic A phase (Sma, n=2-5) and an ordered hexagonal prism phase (Colho, n=7).
