Abstract

A compression garment comprises panels of elasticised fabric joined by seams of flat lock stitching to define, when worn, specific areas of compression, areas of compression being: the perineum, caesarian wound area and rectus abdominus muscles; or the perineum and the pelvic joints.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to compression garments, and more particularly to compression garments for use during prenatal and postpartum recovery. Background technique [0002] Supportive garments are used both during pregnancy and postpartum. Most support garments take the form of underwear or corsets. Compression is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis and embolism in trauma patients and after surgery. After surgery, compression has been shown to reduce swelling and provide tissue support, which can improve the speed and extent of recovery. [0003] Postpartum women often have difficulty regaining their pre-pregnancy body and function. During pregnancy, the uterus enlarges to accommodate the growing fetus. The abdominal skin and muscles are stretched and internal organs are displaced. After the baby is born, the abdomen temporarily remains enlarged and its functions are impaired. Women often complain that their abs don't fully function and t...
