Abstract

The invention provides a mute indication method and device applied for a video conference. The method comprises: a multipoint conference unit (MCU) carries out sound activation detection for a voice frequency media flow sent by a terminal which participates in the video conference and is muted; the MCU obtains the detection result of the terminal, wherein the detection result comprises one of the following states: sound activation state and sound inactivation state; and when the detection result is the sound activation state, the MCU superposes the mute video indication to the video signal of the terminal.
