Abstract

The invention relates to the field of data transmission, in particular to a wireless automatic meter reading system which comprises a sensor, a data collector and a management center, wherein the sensor is used for obtaining data of a meter and transmitting the obtained data through a wireless Mesh network; the data collector is used for receiving the data transmitted by the sensor and transmitting the received data; and the management center comprises a first control unit, and the first control unit is used for receiving the data transmitted by the data collector and recording the data. The invention further provides a wireless automatic meter reading method. The wireless Mesh network in a ZigBee wireless network is utilized for carrying out communication in a domestic specific free frequency band, thereby saving the cost of the network. The wireless automatic meter reading method does not need to lay lines in advance, thereby having small workload and realizing portability. Furthermore, a topological structure of the wireless Mesh network can be built independently, thereby being applicable to information collection of a variety of small-range geographic regions and having a wide range of applications.
