Embodiment Construction

[0033] In order to make the object, technical solution and advantages of the present invention clearer, the present invention will be further described in detail below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

[0034] see figure 1 , first introduce the structural composition of the IP packet header, including: source IP address, destination IP address and other fields, which are used to encapsulate IP data and generate IP packets for network transmission.

[0035] see figure 2 , introduces the structure of the TCP packet header, including: source port number, destination port number, sequence number, confirmation sequence number and other fields, which are used to encapsulate TCP data and generate TCP packets for further IP encapsulation. The method of the present invention only needs to use the sequence number or confirmation sequence number in its packet header, the arrival time information of the packet, and figure 1 The source and destination IP addresses in the I...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for utilizing cross-correlation function to passively measure the connection round-trip delay of transmission control protocol (TCP). A measuring node and a measuringdevice are selected or set on the paths connected by TCP; firstly, bi-directional subgroups which go through the node and are connected by TCP in set time are collected by the measuring device and are stored; next, the set time is evenly divided into a plurality of time lengths of small regions; the subgroup number of two directions in the time length of each small region is respectively counted;the subgroup number of the same direction in the time lengths of all small regions, which go through the node, forms a statistical number sequence; the bi-directional subgroups connected by TCP formtwo statistical number sequences in the same time quantum; thirdly, the value of the cross-correlation function of the two statistical number sequences under different time offset is calculated; the corresponding relationship between each ACK subgroup and data subgroup thereof is determined according to the time offset corresponding to the maximum function value; and finally, the TCP round-trip delay connected in the set time is calculated. The method overcomes the defects in the prior art that the additional throughput needs to be added to network when measuring, and the efficiency is low.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a technical solution for real-time monitoring of network transmission performance. Specifically, it relates to a method for passively measuring the round-trip time delay of a data packet at a node of a TCP connection path by using a cross-correlation function, and belongs to the technical field of network performance measurement of the Internet. Background technique [0002] Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is the dominant transport layer protocol in the Internet, and the research on the characteristics of TCP protocol is of great significance to the design and improvement of the protocol and the performance optimization of the network. Among them, the round-trip delay of a TCP connection is one of the important parameters determining the behavior characteristics of a TCP connection, and it is also an important research object in the field of network measurement. [0003] The method of measuring round trip delay RTT (Round T...
