The method comprises the following steps: (1) collecting and summarizing the traffic-jam situations of all road sections of a city through a traffic information center; (2) adjusting the number of lanes into different roads according to the road-jam situations of the road intersections in different driving directions; (3) displaying the running directions of the lanes through the electronic displays hung above the intersections; and (4) displaying the traffic-jam situations of trunk roads in every driving direction through the electronic displays hung above the intersections. The method has the advantages of automatically controlling the number of vehicles entering a certain road from a certain direction, compulsively regulating traffic flow of different roads, leading the vehicles jamming the road sections to run from road sections with no jams and helping to ease traffic pressure.
