Embodiment Construction

[0039] [0040] FIG. 1 is a block diagram schematically illustrating circuitry for performing the method of the present invention. The circuit includes a power supply. In the following examples, this power source is assumed to be a primary battery 1 , but the skilled person will understand that it could equally be an accumulator (secondary battery), a battery pack 1 or in principle any type of power source subject to a voltage drop. In the following it is also assumed that the method is implemented in a digital hearing aid, but obviously it can be used anywhere a battery warning is required.

[0040] [0041] The voltage of the battery is measured using an analog-to-digital converter 2, which converts the instantaneous voltage into a corresponding digital value for use in the digital circuitry of the hearing aid.

[0041] [0042] The instantaneous battery voltage value is fed to a brownout module 3, which will be described in further detail below. The digital values correspondi...

Abstract

A method for monitoring the supply voltage of a hearing aid comprising at least one electric cell. The method comprising the steps of counting the number of times the supply voltage falls below a predetermined value within a first predetermined time period, and setting an alarm flag if said number of times reaches a predetermined value within said predetermined time period. The method may be implemented using a circuit for monitoring the supply voltage of a hearing aid comprising at least one electric cell. The circuit comprises a first timer timing a first detecting interval, a detector for detecting drops in said supply voltage below a predetermined threshold value, a first counter for counting the number of detections within said detecting interval, and means for setting an alarm flag if said number of times reaches a predetermined value within said first detection interval.

Description

technical field [0001] [0002] The present invention relates to a method for a battery alarm of a hearing aid, a circuit form for realizing the method, and a hearing aid having such a circuit. Background technique [0002] [0003]Modern digital hearing aids are quite demanding on their power supply voltages, since they do not work below a certain voltage which leads to distortion of the reproduced signal. [0003] [0004] It is generally known to provide power to hearing aids from a single battery. This battery, which is often a primary battery such as a zinc-air battery, usually has to fit within the confined space of the hearing aid housing. When the primary battery is gradually depleted and can no longer provide sufficient voltage to the electronics of the hearing aid, the primary battery has to be replaced. [0004] [0005] For users, it is usually concerned that the battery can be reminded that the battery is exhausted at an appropriate time before the hearing aid stops w...
