Abstract

The invention provides a method for realizing streaming media service based on an HFC bidirectional network and a device thereof, which belongs to a transmission technology field of digital information. The method comprises the steps: interactive processing of video-on-demand and streaming service of audio-video data are separated; the audio-video data is realized by adopting an MPEG-2 TS specification; a RTSP protocol in an ISMA specification is introduced, thereby standardizing flow of the video-on-demand; uplink and downlink of a RTCP control protocol are separated which means that the uplink is transmitted by using a bidirectional channel and the downlink is encapsulated in private data of a TS and transmitted by using a broadcasting channel; and combination of QoS information communication function of the RTCP can realize effective monitor of utilization of spectrum resources, thus the video-on-demand service can be effectively developed in the HFC bidirectional network and reliable management of bandwidth can be realized, which supply the user with reliable service guarantee.
