Embodiment Construction

[0026] Preferred embodiments of the present invention are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. 1 is an oblique view showing a vehicle steering apparatus according to a first embodiment of the present invention as viewed from the outside of the vehicle in the case where the embodiment is applied to a vehicle having a strut type suspension. Figure 1 shows the elements associated with one of the steered wheels. The elements of other steered wheel examples may be substantially the same as the first embodiment except for a difference in form due to left-right symmetry. To facilitate understanding of FIG. 1 , wheels and tires have been omitted. The drive shaft is connected to the omitted wheels.

[0027] The vehicle steering device 100 of the present embodiment has a knuckle 110 that rotatably supports a wheel via a bearing. The knuckle 110 has arms 110a, 110b extending upward and downward.

Abstract

A steering apparatus for a vehicle (100) includes a wheel support member (110) and a linear support mechanism (300) including members (302, 304) supported on the vehicle body, and supporting pivot point (110d) of the wheel support member (110). The steering apparatus further includes a first arm member (200), and a steering mechanism that includes a tie rod (400) linked to the wheel support member (110), and rotates the wheel support member (110) around the swinging pivot point (110d) in association with the movement of the tie rod (400) during steering. The first arm member (200), via the linear support mechanism (300), causes the swinging pivot point (110d) to move, linked to the movement of the tie rod (400), linearly or approximately linearly, outward in the vehicle widthwise direction.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a vehicle steering device having a mechanism for moving a rotational fulcrum of a wheel support member forming a kingpin axis in a vehicle width direction. Background technique [0002] A known steering device has a wheel and a knuckle that rotatably supports the wheel on one side of a vehicle, and performs steering of the wheel by turning the knuckle. There is a steering device in which when steering is performed, the knuckle is pushed outward in the direction of the width of the vehicle so that it moves away from the sides of the vehicle to turn the wheels (for example, refer to Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. JP-A-2005 -53471). [0003] However, in the steering device described above, the structure is such that the knuckle is pushed outward in the width direction of the vehicle by turning the link in a predetermined direction. For this reason, depending on the steering direction (turning outward or turning in), there...
