Embodiment Construction

[0011]Referring to the drawings, a wooden hockey stick blade 10 has a pair of spaced parallel grooves 12, 14 extending longitudinally along its puck impact area 16. Each groove 12, 14 is filled with a titanium thermoset 18 so that the titanium thermoset 18 is co-planar with the surface of the blade 10. A preferred titanium thermoset 18 is sold under the name “Devcon Titanium Putty”.

[0012]Each groove may have a length of from about 1 to about 10 inches, a width of from about 0.25 to about 0.5 inches and a depth of from about 0.03 to about 0.25 inches. The titanium thermoset 18 should be substantially co-planar with the blade surface and may project up to about 0.06 inches thereabove.
