Problems solved by technology

[0004] This known method has the disadvantage of uneven compression of the capsule due to the vibrations required to perform the compression
This known method has the disadvantage that the vibration must be done while the shaft is in the femur and at the same time pushing the shaft down, and the compression cannot be adjusted over the length of the shaft

Abstract

An assembly for fixating a prosthesis in body tissue such as bone of a mammal, comprising a mechanical compacting device and a mass comprising at least granules of a biocompatible material having a sponge-like structure, wherein the mechanical compacting device is designed for compacting the granules during use by insertion of the device in a hole in bone and subsequently inducing relative movement of at least a first part of the compacting device relative to a second part thereof, such that the volume of at least one space between at least part of an outer surface of the device and the adjacent inner surface of said hole is reduced.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an assembly for securing a prosthesis in body tissue, such as bone. The invention also relates to a prosthesis and a method for securing such a prosthesis, as well as to the use of biocompatible particles for securing the prosthesis. Background technique [0002] For fixing the prosthesis in the bone, various methods are known in the state of the art, for example using cements, memory metal based fixing elements, or using other mechanical fixings such as pins, screws, plates and the like element. [0003] WO 00 / 13615 discloses a method for securing a prosthesis in bone by using an implant comprising a capsule filled with a dose of histocompatible A mixture of porous particles of material with disintegrated histocompatible biological material, such as bone meal, to which has been added other histocompatible ingredients that allow the mixture to mold or form within the capsule. Prior to use, the bladder is vibrated to ...
