Problems solved by technology

These leaks are defined as micro-leaks, i.e. very small leaks in the container that cannot be detected immediately as they do not result in a noticeable spill of liquid or other substance, but they can compromise product quality in the long run

Embodiment Construction

[0053] refer to figure 1 , according to the illustrated embodiment of the invention, the sample container to be tested is placed by the positioning assembly 51 in the detection zone 13 defined in the device 10 incorporating the device of the invention. According to this embodiment, the positioning assembly 51 comprises a pair of conveyor belts 53, 55 for introducing or bringing containers into the detection zone 13 and removing said containers from or exiting the detection zone 13, respectively. Preferably the positioning assembly 51 also includes a pair of side guides 55a, 55b for correct positioning of the container in the detection zone 13, preferably in the center of the zone 13.

[0054] Optionally, the method according to the invention comprises the step of subjecting the sample container to compression or crushing to facilitate possible gas escape. Preferably said pressing step is performed by means of a pressing assembly comprising rotatable rollers.

Abstract

A method for recognizing the presence of leakages from sealed containers, comprising the steps of: defining a detection zone (13) in which a sealed container (CT) will be placed; putting said detection zone (13) in communication with at least one gas sensor (219a, 219b) through at least one duct (21); introducing a flushing gas into said detection zone (13) through said at least one duct (21); placing a container (CT) in said detection zone (13); sucking a gas flow from said detection zone (13) through said duct (21) and transferring it to a first sensor (219a, 219b), wherein the method further comprises a step in which said gas flow that has reached the first sensor is either transferred to a second sensor or is transferred to the first sensor for a second time, and wherein the signals generated by the two sensors, or the two signals generated by the same sensor, are processed for determining the presence of a gas leakage in said container (CT).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method and device for identifying whether there is leakage in a sealed container. According to the method and device of the present invention, it is possible to identify whether there is a fluid leakage in a sealed container. More specifically but not exclusively, said fluid may be in a gas or vapor state and may consist of a gas or a gas mixture, or of a vapor or of a vapor mixture, or of a gas and of a vapor mixture. The container may be a rigid container, such as a glass jar or bottle, or a container having at least one flexible wall part, such as different kinds of plastic buckets, bags and flexible packaging. Background technique [0002] At present, many beverages and products used as food or for other purposes are mainly preserved by one of the following packaging methods. [0003] According to a first mode, mainly used for preserving liquids, rigid or semi-rigid containers are filled with the substance to be...
