A specific embodiment of the method comprises the steps of obtaining vehicle scene data of a real path corresponding to each map path in a to-be-detected map; wherein the vehicle scene data comprises sensing data acquired by at least one sensor installed on a real vehicle in the driving process of the real vehicle along the real path, and positioning truth value data of the real vehicle in the driving process; indicating a virtual vehicle to drive along a virtual path corresponding to the real path in a pre-established simulation platform, and determining simulation positioning data of the virtual vehicle in the driving process by using a preset positioning algorithm, the sensing data and a to-be-detected map; and detecting a to-be-detected map according to the simulation positioning data and the positioning truth value data. According to the embodiment, the map quality can be automatically, efficiently and accurately detected based on the simulation platform.
