Problems solved by technology

Therefore, traditional methods provide less efficient navigation, increasing landing time and power consumption
In addition, the risk of a collision or missed landing increases when the drone cannot react quickly to the behavior of the vehicle
Furthermore, in conventional methods, the driver of the vehicle is often required to keep the vehicle at a constant and stable speed, which places a burden on the driver and also poses risks to the surrounding traffic

Abstract

The invention relates to predictive landing for a drone and a moving vehicle. A method for predictive drone landing is provided. The method includes obtaining a relative position of the drone with respect to a landing dock mounted on a vehicle, obtaining a relative velocity of the drone with respect to the landing dock, estimating a time of landing based on the relative position and the relative velocity of the drone with respect to the landing dock, and predicting a location of the vehicle at the estimated time of landing as a drone landing location based on driving data of the vehicle and flight conditions of the drone. In particular, the drone landing location is predicted based on at least one of a speed of the vehicle, a calculated vehicle route from a navigation system, a road traffic condition, a 2-D map data, a 3-D map data, advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) data, and traffic data received via a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a drone landing system for a vehicle, and more particularly, to a method and system for landing a drone on a vehicle under predictive navigation. Background technique [0002] Unmanned aerial systems are widely used for military, commercial, scientific, recreational, and agricultural purposes, with applications including surveillance, delivery, aerial photography, and more. Drones are also being developed to take off from and land on vehicles. Vehicle-based UAV systems are more versatile, flexible and energy-efficient. In vehicle-based UAV systems, a landing platform mounted on the vehicle is used as a base for charging and transportation. [0003] In an example of package delivery utilizing a vehicle-based drone system, a large number of packages may be loaded inside a vehicle (eg, a truck or van) and the drone may be placed on the roof of the vehicle. When the vehicle approaches the delivery area, the drone can loa...
