The system comprises a source station cluster, an edge cluster, a loadbalancer, a plug flow end and a pull flow end, the method comprises the following steps that: an edge instance node receives a stream pulling request of a stream pulling end; the edge instance node queries a database and judges whether the neighbor edge instance node has a required source or not, and if so, the edge instance node selects the most idle neighbor edge instance node from the active neighbor edge instance nodes to return to the source; otherwise, directly returning to the source from the source station cluster; and pushing the media stream to the stream pulling end after the source return is successful. The method has the beneficial effects that the source station cluster and the edge cluster are compressed to the single node for deployment, the secondary forwarding capabilityin the edge cluster is improved, and the media stream distribution efficiency is improved.
