The method comprises the following steps of: respectively detecting the wearing states of the earphones on the left side and the right side of the head-mounted equipment; when it is detected that the earphone on one side or the earphones on the left side and the right side are worn, controlling an audio channel(s) on the same side as the worn earphone(s) to be switched into an earphone playing mode; and when it is detected that the earphone on one side or the earphones on the left side and the right side are taken off, controlling the audio channel(s) on the same side as the taken-off earphone(s) to be switched into a loudspeaker playing mode. According to the audio playing mode switching method provided by the embodiment of the invention, the audio playing mode can be automatically switched accordingto the wearing states of the earphones, the complex operation of manually switching the audio channels by a user is omitted, the continuity of sound output is maintained, meanwhile, the use requirements of users in different application scenes can also be met, and the user experience is greatly improved.
