The sterilization compound containing the 2-amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole zinc and the thiodiazole copper is applied according to a ratio with which acombination has a synergistic effect on reduction or prevention of rice infection by the toxins formed by xanthomonas oryzae pathovar oryzicola. Rice seeds and seedlings, rice plants, rice leaf sheaths and soil where rice is about to be planted are treated by the sterilization compound containing the 2-amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole zinc and the thiodiazole copper by means of seed treatment,foliar application, stem application, thorough soaking, dripping, pouring, spraying, atomizing, dusting, spreading, fuming or the like.
