Embodiment Construction

[0128] The following PVC rigid compositions are made into dry mixes, usually mixed to 120°C; for compositions containing plasticizers, the plasticizer is added at 60°C and the dry mix is mixed to 110°C, such as PVC Standard procedure for processing. The dry blend was then extruded into 1.75 mm diameter strands with a Polylab laboratory twin-screw extruder under standard extrusion conditions.

[0129] The obtained wires were 3D printed on a Reprap-type "Makergear M Series" 3D printer to become 3D printed test pieces for evaluating 3D printing performance (http: / / www.thingiverse.com / thing:704409t). The 3D printing parameters are adjusted to the following conditions: the printing speed is 50mm / s; the printing temperature that starts printing immediately when PVC enters the "hot end" can be manually set to 190 to 290°C on the main program; once PVC enters the "hot end" The bed temperature that starts printing immediately at "end" can be manually set to 100°C on the main program...

Abstract

The present disclosure is directed to a thermoplastic polymer for additive manufacturing, wherein the thermoplastic polymer is derived from a chlorinated monomer unit, wherein the thermoplastic polymer has a melt flow rate (MFR) suitable for additive manufacturing. The present disclosure is also directed to a method of making a 3D product formed by additive manufacturing, wherein the 3D product comprises a thermoplastic polymer derived from a chlorinated monomer unit or a thermoplastic composition comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer derived from a chlorinated monomer unit; and at least one stabiliser, wherein the thermoplastic polymer or composition has a MFR suitable for additive manufacturing.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to chlorinated thermoplastic polymers for Additive Manufacturing (3D printing). In particular, the present invention relates to chlorinated thermoplastic polymers and thermoplastic compositions comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer derived from chlorinated monomer units; and methods of 3D printing using such thermoplastics to form 3D products. Background technique [0002] 3D printing is a widely used and developing processing technology. The term "3D printing" summarizes a wide variety of constantly developing technologies, covering for example metal-laser sintering, plastic powder sintering, UV curing and fusion layer deposition techniques. A web search is the best way to provide an overview of the technologies applied to this rapidly evolving application area, as the print media struggles to keep up. [0003] The core of 3D printing is generally a processing method in which discrete particles (such as plastics...
