The code rate adaptive adjusting method includes the steps: according to the current system network state, setting the maximum code rate and the minimum code rate, obtaining the first code rate, and coding a transmitted media stream through the first code rate; if frame loss occurs in the preset time, reducing the first code rate to obtain the third code rate, and coding the media stream through the third code rate; and if frame loss does not occur, increasing the first code rate to obtain the second code rate, coding the media stream through the second code rate, determining whether frame loss occurs during the coding process through the second code rate, and reducing the second code rate to obtain the third code rate if frame loss occurs. The code rate adaptive adjusting method correspondingly increases or reduces the code rate by detecting the data frame loss situation, and codes the media stream by means of the modified code rate.
