The invention discloses a video sharing method and a video sharing device, wherein the video sharing method and the video sharing device are used for realizing an effect of sharing a video to a user terminal through a set-top box. The method comprises the steps of establishing a wireless local area network hotspot and establishing wireless local area network hotspot connection with at least one terminal; when a sharing instruction to currently played video data is received, acquiring an Internet protocol (IP) address of at least one terminal in wireless local area network hotspot connection with the set-top box; and distributing the video data to at least one terminal according to the Internet protocol (IP) address. The video sharing method and the video sharing device realizes distribution of the video which is played by the set-top box to the terminal through the wireless local area network hotspot, thereby realizing synchronous viewing of the video which is played by the set-top box on the terminal by the user, realizing no data traffic consumption and no network bandwidth occupation by the terminal, and saving data traffic and network bandwidth.
