Embodiment 1

[0120] Example 1 - Preparation of alcoholic extracts from fresh plants

[0121] A total of 530 g of the three plants (each at a ratio of 20% to 60%) were placed in 1100 ml of an ethanol / water mixture (40% to 90% ethanol) and ground in a mixer. The result is "set" for a period of 4 to 8 days, during which time care is taken to ensure that the ground plants remain submerged in the solution. At the end of that time, pour off the liquid part, press the plant part and collect the liquid, then strain.

[0122] The extract thus obtained has a dark green-brown color.

Embodiment 2

[0123] Example 2 - Preparation of alcoholic extracts from dried plants

[0124] 370-450 grams of dried plants are used in 1200 ml of hydroalcoholic mixed solution (40%-90% ethanol). The resultant was "set" for about 2 weeks. At the end of the maceration / dyeing of the solvent, the liquid part is decanted, the plant part is pressed and the liquid is collected, then filtered.

Abstract

The present invention relates to compositions comprising at least one flavonoid of natural or synthetic origin in association with melatonin for use to increase the effectiveness of chemotherapeutic treatments used in human and veterinary medicine for the treatment of tumours, in particular for the treatment of tumours resistant to the chemotherapeutic agents currently in use. The at least one flavonoid is selected from the group comprising or, alternatively, consisting of rutin, oxerutin, diosmin and hesperidin, preferably rutin.

Description

Contents of the invention [0001] The present invention relates to a composition comprising at least one flavonoid of natural or synthetic origin in combination with melatonin, for enhancing the efficacy in human and veterinary medicine for the treatment of tumors, in particular for the treatment of those resistant to currently used chemotherapeutic agents. Effectiveness of chemotherapeutic treatment of resistant tumors; said at least one flavonoid is selected from the group comprising or consisting of rutin, oxerutin, diosmin and hesperidin, preferably rutin. [0002] Background of the invention [0003] Currently, tumor cell resistance to chemotherapeutic treatment represents a continuously evolving problem of enormous proportions. Drug resistance manifests itself in both solid tumors and tumors of the lymphatic system, and can emerge from the start of therapy or after an initial positive response to therapy. For example, many times chemotherapy resistance manifests itself...
