The radar-based bidirectional safeguard system comprises a radar module 1, a radar module 2, a high-velocity electronic diverter switch, a microprocessor, a liquid crystal display, a rotary switch, a relay, an acousto-optic alarm, a power supply and a voltage reduction module. The radar module 1 and the radar module 2 are used for respectively detecting moving targets within 1.5km on an up-going side and a down-going side of an operation point, and detection data are transmitted to the microprocessor through the high-velocity electronic diverter switch by the aid of an RS232 interface; the microprocessor is used for processing and analyzing the detection data from the radar module 1 and the radar module 2, displaying moving target information on the liquid crystal display and comparing the moving target information with a set initial threshold value.
