Embodiment

[0132] CLAIMS 1. A method for half-duplex operation using a single oscillator.

[0133] 2. The method of embodiment 1 wherein an enhanced Node B (eNB) scheduler is informed whether to use a single or dual oscillator to implement a half-duplex capable WTRU.

[0134] 3. The method as in any one of the preceding embodiments, wherein a WTRU using a single oscillator may not receive or transmit in a subframe if there is scheduling of unicast traffic in either direction during the handover time.

[0135] 4. The method as in any one of the preceding embodiments wherein the behavior of a WTRU using a single oscillator is defined if uplink and downlink signals are located in the same subframe or adjacent subframes.

[0136] 5. The method as in any one of the preceding embodiments wherein a WTRU using a single oscillator may not Uplink signals are transmitted or downlink signals may not be received.

Abstract

The invention discloses a half duplex FDD WTRU with single oscillator. Half duplex (HD) frequency division duplexing (FDD) in a wireless transmit-receive unit (WTRU) using a single oscillator (SO) for uplink (UL) and downlink (DL), which may contribute to reduced costs of implementation. Approaches to the resolution of scheduling issues which may result from increased switching time versus implementations using separate oscillators are discussed, including indication of SO-HD-FDD capability, scheduling for collision avoidance, enhanced node-b (eNB) receiver implementations, link adaptation for missed detected physical downlink control and shared channels, collision handling, DL measurement, and burst based transmissions.

Description

technical field [0001] The present application is in the field of wireless communications. Background technique [0002] As wireless technology continues to advance, machine-type communications (MTC) will continue to evolve for the foreseeable future. Today, many MTC devices are targeted for low-end (low cost, low data rate) applications handled by GSM / GPRS networks. Migration of MTC equipment to Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks is an attractive alternative, reducing the need for operators to continue maintaining networks using different radio access technologies and improving spectral efficiency. To make this transition attractive, MTC devices need to be low cost. [0003] Low-cost MTC devices using half-duplex frequency division duplex (HD-FDD) have been proposed. Consistent with the desire to reduce costs, a single oscillator can be used, which is cheaper to build but may require time to switch between uplink and downlink. Contents of the invention [0004] A meth...
