The invention provides a portable electronic device and a touch operation method thereof. The touch operation method comprises the following steps: firstly, under an image acquisition mode of the portable electronic device, sensing a touch operation of a touch screen; secondly, determining shooting countdown time according to a position of a touch destination of the touch operation on a preset path; and finally, when sensing that the touch operation is away from the touch screen, starting to execute countdown shooting time, and trigging the image acquisition unit to shoot images when the countdown is over. The invention provides the portable electronic device and the touch operation method thereof, so that users can directly start a timed shooting function through a dragging operation on a shutter button, and set the shooting countdown time synchronously, so that the operation convenience of the portable electronic device can be enhanced.
