The imaging apparatus comprises a polarized light generation component converting incident lights into linearly polarized lights, a lens set having a liquid crystal lens, a driving circuit enabling the liquid crystal lens to be at a focusing state and a non-focusing state, an image collection unit collecting a linearly polarized light signal passing through the liquid crystal lens and generating an image according to the linearly polarized light signal, and an image processing unit receiving and processing focusing images and non-focusing images and enabling the processed image to be an imaged image. An included angle is formed between a polarized direction of the linearly polarized light and a polarized direction of the linearly polarized light preset regulated by the liquid crystal lens; and when the liquid crystal lens is at the focusing state or the non-focusing state, the focusing image or a non-focusing image is formed. The imaging apparatus has compact structure; image contrast can be improved via the real non-focusing image generated by the liquid crystal lens; and high image quality can be achieved.
