The method comprises the steps that the information of an access wifi hotspot before a mobile terminal and the information of a current access wifi hotspot are acquired and sent to a server database; the server establishes a wireless access point switching table according to the wifi hotspot information, and calculates user's next wifi hotspot with the largest switching probability and other possible switching wifi hotspots; and finally, according to the calculated wifi hotspot switching probability and monitored real-time signal strength of each wifi hotspot, an optimal wifi hotspot is selected for switching. According to the mobile terminal wifi switching method, in a switching process, the information of the current access point and the information of a previous access point are considered; based on historical information, a next access point is selected; and if the moving trajectory of the mobile terminal is fixed, the scan time delay of the switching process can be effectively shortened when a next access point is selected according to the switching method.
