Abstract

The invention discloses a battery management system which is used for carrying out electric quantity equalization on at least two groups of battery packs. Each battery pack comprises at least two battery single bodies. The battery management system comprises a central control unit and electric quantity equalization devices corresponding to each battery pack. The central control unit is connected with each electric quantity equalization device through a first bus. The electric quantity equalization devices are mutually connected through a first inter-group power supply bus and a second inter-group power supply bus. The electric quantity equalization devices are used for carrying out within-group electric quantity equalization on the battery single bodies in the corresponding battery packs respectively and furthermore, carrying out inter-group electric quantity equalization on the different battery packs under the control of the central control unit. Through the method above, the battery management system can carry out within-group electric quantity equalization on the battery single bodies needing electric quantity equalization and meanwhile, carry out inter-group electric quantity equalization on the battery packs needing electric quantity equalization, and thus electric quantity equalization effect is effectively improved.
