Problems solved by technology

[0004] However, a disadvantage of conventional multi-view displays lies in the fact that a viewer or each of a plurality of viewers can see a sufficient amount of 3D images only if his eyes are kept at a nominal viewing distance from the screen , where the nominal viewing distance is set by the geometrical characteristics of the screen

Embodiment Construction

[0036] figure 1 An autostereoscopic screen is shown in , which is the case of a multi-view display adapted to simultaneously reproduce more than two different images such that each of these images is respectively from a different laterally offset Viewing areas 11 and 11' are visible. The autostereoscopic screen comprises a pixel matrix 12 which may be given eg by a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).

[0037] Details of the pixel matrix 12 are shown in the figure 2 middle. The pixel matrix 12 comprises a plurality of pixels 13 arranged in rows and columns, wherein in this exemplary embodiment pixels 13 of the three basic colors (red, green, blue) are in each case arranged in a linear direction Alternate cyclically. figure 2 A pixel 13 in is characterized by a letter R for red, G for green, and B for blue, according to the corresponding basic colors. The pixels 13 of the pixel matrix 12 are arranged such that they form a plurality of parallel strips 14 of pixels 13, wherein t...

Abstract

The present invention relates to an autostereoscopic screen for the simultaneous reproduction of more than two different pictures, comprising a pixel matrix (12) with a multitude of pixels, an optical element (15) arranged on front of or behind the pixel matrix (12) and a control unit (16) for activating the pixel matrix (12) and the optical element (15). The optical element (15) forms an optical grid with a family of strip-like structures which run next to one another, wherein a period length of the optical grid is changeable by way of activating the optical element (15). Thereby, for a change of a viewing distance (Ln, L) the control unit (16) is configured to increase or reduce the period length and to simultaneously change a distribution of picture information onto the pixel matrix (12). The invention further relates to a corresponding method for the simultaneous reproduction of more than two different pictures.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an autostereoscopic screen for simultaneous reproduction of more than two different images according to the preambles of the independent claims. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for simultaneously rendering more than two different images, which method can be performed by the autostereoscopic screen. Background technique [0002] A known type of screen comprises a pixel matrix with a plurality of pixels, an optical element arranged in front or behind the pixel matrix, and a control unit for activating the pixel matrix, wherein the pixels of the pixel matrix are arranged in parallel strips of pixels , the pixel strip is vertical or inclined relative to the vertical, wherein the optical elements form a grating with a set of strip structures adjacent to each other in an equidistant manner parallel to the strip By extension, the light grid in each case sets a predetermined direction of propagation for the light emitte...
