Problems solved by technology

Also, a missed paging opportunity may cause a long delay of approximately another DRX sleep period until the next possible reception of a paging message
A similar problem can also occur if there is no cell change, because the paging configuration can also change within the same cell

Embodiment Construction

[0022] The present invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments and drawings. The illustrated embodiments relate to concepts involving the transmission of paging information between a base station of a mobile network and a terminal device.

[0023] figure 1 Schematically shows a mobile network environment represented by a base station (BS) 100 and a control node 300, as well as a terminal device 200, that is, the mobile network infrastructure, which can connect to the mobile network for data transmission, for example, receiving from the BS 100 Data and / or sending data to BS 100, as indicated by arrow 20. Furthermore, the terminal device 200 can also receive paging information from the mobile network, which can also happen in idle mode. In idle mode, the terminal device 200 has no association with the BS 100, eg, no radio resource control (RRC) connection, and the location of the terminal device 200 is known to the network with the ...

Abstract

In transmission of paging information from a mobile network to a terminal device (200), the terminal device applies a discontinuous reception cycle to enter a sleep mode. Further, the terminal device determines an advance wakeup time (AW) for leaving the sleep mode. The advance wakeup time (AW) is advanced by an advancement time interval (DeltaA) with respect to a start of an active time of the discontinuous reception cycle. At the determined advance wakeup time (AW), the terminal device leaves the sleep mode and starts monitoring the downlink control channel with respect to paging configuration information transmitted by the mobile network. The paging configuration information defines a paging occasion for transmission of the paging information. On the basis of the paging configuration information, the terminal device monitors the paging occasion to receive the paging information from the mobile network.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method and a corresponding device for sending paging information. Background technique [0002] In a mobile network such as a 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) mobile network, various types of terminal devices may be used. For example, besides conventional types of terminal devices such as mobile phones, smartphones, data modems, mobile computers etc. also referred to below as user equipment (UE), machine type communication (MTC) terminal devices may also be used. MTC terminal devices generally only send and receive a small amount of data, which occurs almost infrequently, for example, once a week to once a minute. MTC end devices can also poll for data, resulting in irregular data transmission patterns. MTC terminal devices are generally assumed to be autonomous sensor devices, alarm devices, actuating devices, remote control devices, etc. that communicate with application servers and are not used by human ...
