Abstract

A serial switching system is applied to a baseboard management controller (BMC) of a server. BMC firmware is stored in the BMC. The BMC comprises a serial over LAN (SOL) and a Debug serial and is connected to a basic input-output system (BIOS). The server further comprises a multiplexer (MUX), and the MUX is respectively connected to the BIOS, and the SOL and the Debug serial of the BMC. The serial switching system comprises a setting module, a control module, a receiving module and a sending module, wherein the setting module is used for setting a menu option in the BIOS; the control module is used for sending control signals to the MUX through the BIOS and sends the control signals the MUX so as to control communication conditions of the MUX; the receiving module is used for receiving commands of a server system from the SOL or the Debug serial; and the sending module is used for sending information of the BMC firmware to the SOL or the Debug serial so as to feed the information back to the server system.
