[0014] Below in conjunction with accompanying drawing, the present invention is described in further detail and lists corresponding experimental result:

[0015] (1) Determination of the critical depth of the display screen

[0016] For the front and rear blendable range of a given physical display screen, the present invention measures the blendable critical depth of the given physical display screen through an experimental method.

[0017] The experimental method adopts the undistorted stereoscopic image generation method, that is, the depth scale of the virtual scene is consistent with the depth scale of the physical screen space. The experimental steps and some results are as follows:

[0018] 1. Set the distance between the physical display screen and human eyes as 2.5m, and the distance between human eyes as 0.065m;

[0019] 2. Set the separation distance of the virtual camera to 0.065m, set a drawing object at 2.5m away from the virtual camera, set the depth plane wher...

Abstract

The invention discloses a method for determining a separation distance of a virtual camera in drawing stereo images. In a virtual reality system, a parallax error of the stereo images of eyes is necessarily controlled to be within a certain range in order to enable the eyes to comfortably fuse the stereo images on a plane screen. The method comprises the steps as follows: firstly, determining a critical depth in a fusion range of a physical screen through an average value of observation results of multiple persons; secondly, defining two spaces as follows: an eye-physical screen observation space and a virtual camera-scene drawing space; and lastly, deducing a computation expression of the separation distance of the virtual camera through projective transformation between a zero parallax error plane and the physical screen. The method has the benefits as follows: double vision due to excessively large parallax error or poor depth perception of the stereo images due to excessively small parallax error can be avoided by accurately determining the separation distance of the virtual camera.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the technical field of information processing and relates to a calculation method for accurately determining the separation distance of a virtual camera when drawing a stereoscopic image. Background technique [0002] In the simulation application of using computer to generate binocular images and perform stereoscopic observation, the separation value of the left and right virtual cameras set in the virtual scene will have an impact on the generation of binocular stereoscopic images. The distance between the virtual cameras is too small to project on the screen. The image parallax is also relatively small, and the image synthesized by the human brain has a weak sense of depth. However, the separation distance between the virtual cameras is too large, and the parallax of the image projected on the screen is also relatively large, which may exceed the human brain’s ability to fuse binocular images at a certain distance from the p...
