Abstract

The device comprises a capacitor bank, an over-voltage protection device, a damping device and a bypass circuit breaker, wherein the capacitor bank and the damping device are connected in series and then connected in parallel with the over-voltage protection device and the bypass circuit breaker. When the system runs normally, the latent series compensation device is not used, namely the latent series compensation device is in a bypass state; and when short-circuit failures occur, the latent series compensation device detects the short-circuit failures, is used for a circuit in different ways according to different failure types, and is bypassed after a certain time. By the latent series compensation device, the transient state stability of the system is improved, and the voltage distribution of the circuit is optimized; and risks in sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) are eliminated.
