Embodiment Construction

[0019] Although the present invention can be embodied in many different forms, specific embodiments thereof will be described in detail herein with reference to the accompanying drawings, and the disclosure of this application can be understood as an example of the principles of the present invention. The invention is not limited to the particular embodiments shown.

[0020] Embodiments of the present invention include hybrid connectors that can connect directly to a variety of RF connectors. For example, the hybrid connector according to the present invention can be used as a plug-in BNC connector (male BNC connector) and a plug-in TNC connector (male TNC connector), so that the hybrid connector can be directly connected to a female BNC connector ( female BNC connector) and female TNC connector (female TNC connector) connection.

Abstract

A hybrid connector for directly connecting with a female BNC connector and a female TNC connector is provided. The hybrid connector includes a pin, a body, and an outer shell. A distal end of the pin is housed in a dielectric, the dielectric is housed in the body, and a proximate end of the body is housed in the outer shell. The outer shell includes a screw thread that advances axially from a proximate end thereof along an interior surface of the outer shell, and first and second bayonet locking mechanisms disposed therein.

Description

technical field [0001] Generally, the present invention relates to BNC and TNC connectors. More specifically, the present invention relates to a hybrid connector that can be used as both a male BNC connector and a male TNC connector. Background technique [0002] BNC connectors and TNC connectors are known to those skilled in the art. The United States Department of Defense publishes standards for RF (radio frequency) connectors such as BNC connectors and TNC connectors. For example, MIL-STD-348 describes certain requirements for BNC or TNC connectors. Although some BNC and TNC connectors do not comply with MIL-STD-348, many do, and those that do have a large consumer market. Contents of the invention [0003] The BNC (Bayonet Neill-Conselman) connector is a type of RF connector used to terminate coaxial cables. For example, the first end of the male BNC connector can mate with the first end of the female BNC connector, and the second end of the male BNC connector can ...
