Abstract

The present invention provides more efficient, cost effective coke drum isolation valve devices and system as well as more efficient, cost effective methods for isolating the flow of matter from location to another in the delayed coker unit operation where the valve comprises a first seat; a second seat aligned with said first seat; a blind; a main body having an orifice dimensioned to align with an orifice in said line; wherein said main body is coupled to said line; an upper and lower bonnet coupled to said main body, wherein said bonnets may be removed in order to replace valve parts without separating the main body from the line; and a plate located inside a bonnet, wherein the plate comprises a planar surface that contacts a surface of the blind.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to delayed coker unit operations. In particular, the present invention relates to an isolation valve for use in delayed coker unit operation. Background technique [0002] Petroleum refining operations, in which crude oil is processed, often produce residual oils that have little value. When processed in a delayed coker unit ("DCU"), the value of residual oil can be augmented. When processed in a delayed coker, the resid is heated in a furnace to a temperature sufficient to cause a destructive distillation in which a valuable portion of the resid is converted, or "cracked," into useful Hydrocarbon products, and the remainder form petroleum coke, a material consisting primarily of carbon. Large vessels, later referred to as "coke drums", are placed at the outlet of the furnace to allow sufficient residence time for the hydrocarbons to undergo a complete destructive carbonization reaction. [0003] Coke production is a b...
