Abstract

The invention provides a method for improving quality of service (QoS) to users by using an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS). The method comprises (1) adding a mechanism with bandwidth resource management and media flow control for single-call in the existing mechanism according to the priority of the IMS users; (2) making agreement of the bandwidth at two sides of the call, and filtering media messages at two sides of the call in accordance with the agreed bandwidth and channel information defined in the agreement, so as to assure that the characteristic parameter of the actual access flow meets the bandwidth agreed value in each media flow; (3) classifying the media message within the bandwidth agreed value, and directly transmitting the media message that mismatches with the rules; limiting the flow to the media message that meets the matching rules according to token bucket algorithm of committed access rate (CAR).
