Benefits of technology

The technical effect of this patented technology described by this inventor relates to improving image quality when displaying images with different types of lighting environments such as monochrome or color displays. By separately controlling certain areas within specific colors based upon their brightness level, it prevents errors that can occur during normal viewings due to differences between these two conditions.

Problems solved by technology

This patented describes different ways for improving how well a thin film transistor type Liquid Crystalline Display (TFT_LDC)_LCD panel displays high contrast or brighter colors compared to traditional methods like passive matrix addressable driving method used by current electronic equipment such as televisions.

Embodiment Construction

[0030] Exemplary embodiments of the present invention will be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein.

[0031] A Super Patterned Vertical Alignment ("SPVA") mode LCD device increases the viewing angle of the LCD device having main pixels and sub-pixels formed in a pixel region of the LCD device. Each main pixel and sub-pixels receive different pixel voltages from each other.

[0032] In the SPVA mode LCD device, each main pixel and sub-pixel has a different distribution of liquid crystal molecules in order to enhance side visibility of the LCD device.

[0033] However, when an SPVA mode LCD device is viewed from the side, a yellowish color may be observed. For example, it can be observed that the color coordinate values of each gray scale corresponding to the side of the LCD device in SPVA mode an...

Abstract

A display panel has a high pixel and a low pixel that are formed in a pixel area. A driving section receives a first image signal from an external device, outputs a second image signal to the high pixel using gamma data that corresponds to a high pixel gamma curve, and outputs a third image signal to the low pixel using gamma data that corresponds to a low pixel gamma curve. A driving section outputs the third image signal to the low pixel using the same gamma data for RGB data that correspond to a low gradation of the low pixel gamma curve.
