Embodiment Construction

[0070] Embodiments of the invention will now be described in detail, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

[0071] Figure 13 A ferroelectric liquid crystal display electric field alignment method according to the principle of the present invention is shown.

[0072] see Figure 13 According to the principles of the present invention, a ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) display electric field alignment method can be realized by injecting FLC material into a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel, which has a plurality of liquid crystals arranged in a matrix pattern box. In one aspect of the present invention, the LCD panel may include upper and lower glass substrates each supporting an alignment film, wherein alignment directions of the alignment films are substantially parallel to each other. In another aspect of the invention, the FLC material can be injected at a temperature at which the FLC material exhibits an isotropic phase (S1). The temperat...

Abstract

A method for aligning ferroelectric liquid crystal materials in a half-V switch mode when an external electric field is applied, and a driving method and device for a ferroelectric liquid crystal display using the method have high response speed characteristics and wide viewing angle characteristics. This liquid crystal material has a small capacitance value C, and is driven to display pictures according to a dual frequency column inversion driving method operating at 120 Hz.

Description

[0001] This application claims the benefit of Korean Patent Application No. P2002-52032 filed on Aug. 30, 2002, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. technical field [0002] The present invention relates to ferroelectric liquid crystal displays (LCDs), and more particularly to a ferroelectric LCD electric field aligning method, driving method and ferroelectric LCD using the method, which facilitates the generation of moving images through an LCD panel. Background technique [0003] Generally, LCDs display images by applying an electric field to a layer of liquid crystal material in response to an externally applied video signal, wherein the applied electric field controls the orientation of liquid crystal molecules in the layer of liquid crystal material. [0004] Generally, the liquid crystal material in an LCD behaves as an intermediate material phase between a solid phase and a liquid phase, wherein the liquid crystal molecules exhibit fluidity and el...
