Embodiment Construction

[0053] The present invention provides novel compositions for use in wellbore completion and well intervention operations, particularly for wellbores penetrating formations. The novel treatment fluid composition utilizes polymetaphosphate and fluid loss control additives to temporarily seal openings in a wellbore in communication with a formation to enable completion or workover operations. The polymetaphosphate fills the openings and / or provides bridges on the surface of the openings, and the fluid loss control additive provides bridges over the polymetaphosphate composition, thereby sealing the openings. Once completion or workover operations are complete, the polymetaphosphate may be removed by contact with an acidic composition, thereby allowing fluid flow. Methods of using the new compositions are also described.

[0054] In more detail, the novel completion fluid is a weighted degradable composition having a particulate polymetaphosphate composition, a biopolymer suspend...

Abstract

A novel completion fluid composition for fluid loss control during completion and workover operations on a wellbore penetrating a formation is disclosed. In particular, the composition is a weighted brine fluid having a polymetaphosphate composition, a biopolymer suspending agent, and a fluid loss control additive. These novel compositions provide a means to temporarily seal a wellbore in communication with the formation, enabling completion or workover operations, after which the composition can be removed by contact with an acidic composition.

Description

[0001] previous related application [0002] This application is filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty which claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 882,214, filed August 2, 2019, and U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 924,280, filed October 22, 2019 Interest, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. [0003] Federally Sponsored Research Statement [0004] Not applicable. [0005] Refer to Microfiche Addendum [0006] Not applicable. technical field [0007] The present disclosure relates generally to completion fluids and methods of use in hydrocarbon reservoirs, and more particularly to the use of readily removable additives in completion fluids. Background technique [0008] The challenge for oil and gas companies is to produce as much of their hydrocarbon reserves as possible in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Thus, well completion and production processes rely on the use of treatment fluids designed t...
