The tandem type sensor is composed of a wide-range sensor, a high-precision small-range sensor, a sensor protection device, connecting structures of all the parts and a waterproof device. The high-precision small-range sensor and the large-range sensor are connected through a unique connecting structure; the sensor protection device is arranged to protect the high-precision small-range sensor; and in addition, the waterproof device is arranged to perform waterproof protection on the sensor. With the tandem sensor and measuring method of the invention adopted,the problem of inaccurate measurement of the axial force in a small range when the axial force in a large range is measured is effectively solved, and the axial force in each range can be effectively measured; and the tandem sensor and measuring method have an important value for improving the testing precision of a geotechnical triaxial test in a high-pressure state.
