[0250] X. Definition
[0251] An "antigen binding molecule" as used herein is any molecule that can specifically or selectively bind to an antigen. A binding molecule may comprise or be an antibody or fragment thereof. Anti-misfolded TDP-43 binding molecules are molecules that bind misfolded TDP-43 protein at specific recognition sites (epitopes), such as anti-TDP-43 antibodies or fragments thereof. That is, the antigen-binding molecule of the present invention binds to an epitope in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, preferably at amino acid positions 215 to 222 thereof. Other misfolding-resistant TDP-43 binding molecules can also include multivalent molecules, multispecific molecules (for example, diabodies (diabodies)), fusion molecules, aptamers, affimers (avimers) or other naturally occurring or recombinantly produced molecules. Exemplary antigen-binding molecules useful in the invention include antibody-like molecules. Antibody-like molecules are molecules that...
