Benefits of technology

This technology allows for easier control over how an acoustic signal travels inside a pipe during inspections without generating harmful distortions or other issues like bubbles caused by air contact with the interior walls. By shifting the device along the length of the pipeline being examined, various incidents such as cracks may be detected while still maintaining their integrity.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical solution described in this patents relates to improving the accuracy and speed at which thin walled pipelines can be tested without requiring manual scanning. However current solutions require complete removal from their production line before they break down causing significant delays during maintenance operations due to the difficulty involved in manually inspecting them.

Abstract

The invention relates to a creeping wave detection device for inner wall detects of a thick-walled tube. The creeping wave detection device comprises a wedge block and an ultrasonic straight probe, and the ultrasonic straight probe is coupled with the top surface of the wedge block and can move along the top of wedge block in parallel. A limiting structure used for limiting the moving path of theultrasonic straight probe is arranged at the top of the wedge block, and a concave face coupled with the outer surface of the thick-walled tube to be detected is arranged at the bottom of the wedge block. According to the creeping wave detection device for the inner wall detects of the thick-walled tube, the ultrasonic straight probe moves on the wedge block, the incident acoustic beams of the ultrasonic straight probe are adjusted easily to generate different incident angles on the thick-walled tube, and therefore creeping waves are excited on the inner wall of the thick-walled tube to achieve inner wall defect detection. The creeping waves belong to longitudinal waves so as to reach the inner wall of the thick-walled tube easily, and the problem that pure transverse waves can not reach the inner wall is solved; and water leaching is not needed, so that the problems that deformation occurs through a water leaching method and the limitation of the transverse waves is large are solved.
