The invention provides a system and a method for simulating propelling and unloading in a tunnel, comprising a system main frame, a vertical direction loading unit, a horizontal direction loading unit, a lateral pressure bearing baffle, a test piece pad, a connecting line, a computer control apparatus and a data acquisition apparatus. The performance of synchronous loading and subregional unloading for a large-scale rock mass test piece is realized by controlling the vertical direction loading unit, the horizontal direction loading unit and the lateral pressure bearing baffle, thereby the condition of embedded depth and the process of excavating and propelling in the tunnel are effectively simulated; the computer control apparatus can not only quantitatively control the stress environmentwhere surrounding rocks in the tunnel are located, but also quantitatively simulate the excavating stress concentration and an unloading speed in the tunnel; and the data acquisition apparatus measures in real time the evolution characteristics of internal stress and displacements of the surrounding rocks in the tunnel. The system and the method provided by the application enables analogue simulation in a laboratory for propelling, excavating and unloading in a tunnel to possess a space-time concept, and is beneficial to assist researchers to better understand and grasp mechanisms of damagingsurrounding rocks a nd stress evolution induced by propelling, excavating and unloading processes in the tunnel.
