The conventional calculation for the ecological water demand is short of analysis for problems about the environment required by actual survival and growth of organisms. According to the method, the plecoglossus altivelis which is an endangered species is selected as an ecological protection objective, the functional characteristics of the fattening farm habitats of the plecoglossus altivelis in the fattening period are analyzed firstly, then flow conditions required by the habitat functions are further analyzed, and finally, the calculating method for the proper ecological water demand required by survival and growth of the plecoglossus altivelis in the fattening period is proposed.
