Abstract

The present disclosure relates to fifth generation (5G) or previous 5G communication systems that are provided to support higher data rates than those given by Long Term Evolution (LTE) or other subsequent four generation (4G) communication systems. A method for performing sidelink communication by a terminal is provided. The method comprises sending a base station a request for a plurality of grants for the sidelink communication and indicating whether the terminal supports the sidelink to different destinations in a sidelink control (SC) period communicating a first indicator of a plurality of transmissions; receiving the plurality of grants from the base station; and performing the plurality of transmissions to the different destinations in the SC period.
