The lateral entry type backlight module comprises a light guide plate, a light emitting part, a substrate layer, acoupling grating layer and a collimation extraction grating layer, wherein the substrate layer is positioned between the light emitting part and the light incidence surface of the light guide plate; the substrate layer is provided with a groove for containing the light emitting part; the coupling grating layer is positioned between the substrate layer and the light incidence surface of the light guide plate; the collimation extraction grating layer is arranged on the light emitting surface of the light guide plate; the light emitted by the light emitting part passes through the substrate layerand enters the coupling grating layer, the received light is coupled to the light incidence surface of the light guide plate by the coupling grating layer, and the light entering the light guide plate is diffracted by the collimation extraction grating layer to form the parallel light which is vertical to the light emitting surface.
