Embodiment Construction

[0050] The device for adjusting the annular adjustment strip around the crown of the head is used with two elements known in the prior art:

[0051] A flexible sleeve (1) with two open ends (2, 3), with a fold (4) in its middle part, wherein on the outside of the inner fold, a device (5) is secured to adjust the Ring adjustment bar. the sleeve provides a longitudinal pocket in the inner part of the inner fold to place the applicator platen and at least two pull handles (6, 7) in the end of the inner fold, and

[0052] Applicator (8) for insertion of a flexible sleeve folded around a fold, with means for adjusting a ring-shaped adjustment strip around the crown of the head. The applicator provides a head abutment (9), a pressure plate (10) fitted in a longitudinal pocket of the sleeve and a guide (11) indicating the movement of the pressure plate relative to the head abutment.

Abstract

A device to adjust a strip of circular adjustment around the cephalic pole, that is inserted within the delivery channel together with a sleeve and an applicator, where the sleeve is a flexible sleeve, which has both ends open, with a fold in its middle part where it is fixed, on the inner side of the fold, and where the sleeve is provided with at least two traction handles on the ends of the inner fold, and where the applicator is provided with a butt head, spatulas that fit in the pockets of the sleeve and a guide to indicate the movement of the spatulas with respect to the head butt, and comprises: a strip of circular adjustment of flexible material; and at least an adjustment axis with its respective driving mechanism. The method of usage of the device comprises the steps of: a) inserting the device-sleeve-applicator set within the delivery channel uptil the guide shows the middle of the movement of the spatulas; b) making a first adjustment of the strip of circular adjustment rotating at least one adjustment axis; c) reading on the indicator of the rotation angle the diameter of the head of the fetus; d) continuing to insert the device-sleeve-applicator set until its final position; e) continuing with a final adjustment of the strip of circular adjustment of at least half turn; f) removing the applicator; and g) pulling from the sleeve's handles to extract the fetus.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a device for adjusting an adjustment strip on the crown of the fetus' head during childbirth and a method of use thereof, more precisely to assist in crowning the fetus' head. Background technique [0002] Currently, several tools exist to hold the fetal head during labor. [0003] "Pliers" (vacuum devices) are one of them. Forceps are obstetrical instruments in the form of clamps that are used to aid in suctioning the fetus from the outside. Disadvantages of said devices are that they cause: damage in the maternal pelvic soft tissue especially of the cervix and anal sphincter; temporary marks that the device may leave on the head or face of the newborn; damage to the brachial plexus of the newborn. Fetal skull fractures are rare. [0004] US Patent 1,782,814, Eugene Froehlich, November 25, 1930, discloses an "obstetric extractor". The aspirator comprises a structure of soft, deformable and flexible material that is...
