The invention discloses positioning equipment and a positioning method of mobile equipment, the mobile equipment, an area limiting system and an area limiting method. The mobile equipment comprises an ultrasonic detection unit which detects ultrasonic waves through amplitude modulation of a periodic modulation function; and a counting unit which performs segmented counting on the detected ultrasonic waves to acquire the unit time counting value of each segment for the processing unit to judge the position of the mobile equipment relative to the limited area. When the maximum value of the unit time counting value within a modulation period is not less than a first threshold and the minimum value is greater than a second threshold, the processing unit judges that the mobile equipment is in the limited area; and when the maximum value is less than the first threshold and the minimum value is not greater than the second threshold, the processing unit judges that the mobile equipment is out of the limited area. The position of the mobile equipment relative to the limited area can be conveniently, accurately and stably judged.
